What is the Zone Technique?

The Zone Technique is a healing method created by Dr. Peter Goldman.

It is based on many of his influences and experiences. One of his major influences were the teachings of Dr. Thurman Fleet who created Zone Therapy in 1931 in San Antonio, Texas. After learning Zone Therapy in 1993 and refining it over the next two decades, Dr. Peter Goldman of San Francisco, California created The Zone Technique.

There are only six kinds of disturbances that can affect the human body – Dr Fleet

All diseased conditions, aches and pains, and other discomforts experienced by the body can be attributed to one or more of the below disturbances to the body’s 6 systems or Zones.

According to Dr. Fleet, the human brain is composed of many centers. These centers form in the embryonic stage of life and develop from the dorso-medial ectoderm of the embryo.

There is a center which controls the glands of the body, a center which is associated with the organs of elimination, a center which regulates the central nervous system, and which is differentiated as an ectodermal neural plate in the dorso-medial region of the ectoderm.

The digestive organs are regulated by a brain center. In the motor cortex of the brain we find a center which controls all of the muscles of the body, and in the caudate nuclei (both), we find the center which regulates the flow of fluids (circulation) through the body.

Because the body may be properly classified as an ELECTRICAL MACHINE, these 6 brain centers represent the POSITIVE POLE of the body, and specific related points in the spinal cord represent the NEGATIVE POLE of the body. When there is a disturbance in any of the bodily areas, there has been a disruption of normal function of the entire center due to the effect of emotional, physical, or chemical stress.

The Zone practitioner examines the patient to determine which of the brain centers are not in harmony with the systems they control.

The brain is brought back into balance by stimulation of specific points along the spine. The balanced brain centers then are able to send out the proper signals to the body’s systems and the body is better able to heal itself.

Zone 1

The Glandular System

The glandular center in the brain controls all of the glands in the body which include the thyroid, adrenals, and reproductive organs, among others.

Any trauma, disease or strain in the glands will cause a reaction along the nerves to the brain. If the strain is large enough, it can cause a block in regular nerve energy and result in overactive or under-active glands.

Balancing the glandular system can improve energy levels, depression, focus, reproductive functions, and the immune system.

    Zone 2

    The Elimination System

The eliminative system includes the lungs, kidneys, bladder, and skin. These organs are involved with waste elimination and play an essential role in reducing toxin build-up in your body.

This in turn helps to strengthen your immune system function, reduce bloating, create optimal respiratory function and ensure proper muscular function.

Symptoms of Zone 2 being out of balance

      More Info
      • Allergies/Congestion
      • Sinus Infections
      • Asthma

      • Strengthen lung, kidney, and bladder function
      • Regulate colon & bowel movements
      • Clear sinuses, nasal passages, and bronchial tubes
      • Eliminate bloating and bodily toxins

      Zone 3

      The Nervous System

The Nervous System comprises both the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (all other nerves in the body).

Each nerve in the body is responsible for different functions, including sight, digestion, mood, sleep, the reproductive system, hormonal balance, hearing, and more.

Balancing this zone can help promote a healthy immune system, improve mood and sleep, and increase energy, calm feelings, and relaxation. In addition, it can help balance the hormonal system.

Symptoms of Zone 3 being out of balance

      More Info
      • Hearing/Sight Issues
      • Inability to Sleep
      • Sciatica
      • Arm/Hand or Leg/Foot Tingling
      • Hyperactivity/ADHD
      • Cold Hands/Feet
      • Hormonal Imbalance
      • Anxiety/Nervousness
      • Extreme Worry/Fear
      • Improve mood
      • Improve sleep
      • Eye and ear health
      • Balance the hormonal system
      • Increase energy, remain calm and relaxed Appetite regulation

      Zone 4

      The Digestive System

The digestive system is what makes up Zone 4. This system is responsible for taking nutrients from the food we eat and breaking them down to provide cells energy.

Balancing this zone and maintaining a proper diet may help improve liver, intestine, and gallbladder health, decrease food sensitivities, and boost your energy.

Additionally, it can help restore a normal appetite.

      • Digest foods that were previously agitating
      • Boost energy

      Zone 5

      The Muscular System

The muscular system is composed of all the muscles, tendons, ligaments, soft tissues and bones. All of which allow you to move.

This system also impacts balance, flexibility, and strength and directly influences your spinal alignment and nerve connections.

Balancing this zone can help restore proper range of motion and movement, improve flexibility, eliminate chronic pain, and improve posture. In addition, it can help restore your center of gravity and expedite muscle recovery.

      Zone 6

      The Circulatory System

The circulatory system includes everything that circulates through the body, such as the blood and the lymph.

The cardiovascular system is driven by your heart pumping blood through your veins, arteries, and capillaries. During this process, the blood brings nutrients and oxygen to your cells and carries away waste.

Bringing balance to this system can help normalize your blood pressure, encourage proper circulation, improve heart health, healthy blood vessels and healthy lymphatic vessels.
